About Me
My name is Casey Voigt. I am currently 18 and I live in a small town in Indiana. I'm not planning on staying here forever, but I do want to live in a small town again in a couple of years. I'm not a very materialistic type of person. I'm happy with what I got, and I work hard for it. I am a very simple person who enjoys the small things in life from sunsets to being with loved ones. One thing that defines who I am is country. I am a very country girl "from her cowboy boots to her down home roots" as Jason Aldean sings. I live by mostly Southern ways in treating people the way I would want to be treated, loving God, and always coming back to my family. Also, I love trucks, cowboy boots, country music, and of course cowboys. My family also defines who I am. My mom raised me to be who I am today and the family get-together's sculpted me. I'm happy with where I'm at in life, but I know I have many more adventures to go on and mountains to climb.
This is obviously a writing website and not a website just about me, so I will talk a little about me and my writing. I write mostly for fun, never really for anything serious. Although, I do have to write for classes from time to time, but as long as it's not a super factual essay, I enjoy it. I love fiction. It's hard for me to write anything else. If you've already read through some of my stories, you may be able to tell I like to write murder stories. I've been criticized before for writing about murder, being said it was "weird and gross and disturbing." Here's the thing: I don't care. I love writing about it because I love reading about it. It's the suspense and the trying to figure out who did it that's the best.
Speaking of reading, that's how I got started on writing. I used to struggle with reading when I was a small child, but as I aged a couple years, my reading skills enormously improved. Now I'm able to read 700-800 page books within an hour or two. Anyways, since my reading improvement I read a ton, like a crazy ton. I would always have a book in my hand. Guess what I usually read. Murder mysteries. I guess somewhere along the way of my reading frenzy I picked up the skill of writing from the authors I read. When I write, I don't think about how English class has taught me to write. I think about how the books I have read before are put together. I think about what I would think if I were reading this for the first time. Most of the time, it just flows from me without me even thinking. I absorbed the ways of my favorite authors and now it just pours from me. That's just the way I see it.
Well, that's a little about me. Hopefully that will help you understand why I write what I do. Maybe it will make my writing a little more enjoyable to ready or maybe not. Either way I hope you enjoy.
